Cendrillon - Ballet Julien Lestel

Julien Lestel transposes the fairy tale into a corporate world run by an authoritarian mother. Cinderella is a subordinate employee, harassed by her stepmother and stepsisters.

Through tense and expressive choreography, Lestel highlights the psychological violence inflicted, but also Cinderella's inner strength, ready to emerge. The fairy godmother becomes the conscience of her desire for emancipation and her quest for freedom.

The prince, founder of a start-up, charismatic but fragile, embodies another form of solitude; their encounter is not a rescue, but a moment of mutual recognition.

The 12 strokes of midnight do not signal the end of magic, but are the echoes of the harassment suffered; the encounter is not a "happy ending", but the beginning of a rebirth.

The music, which blends Prokofiev's work with Ivan Julliard's electronic creations, underscores this tension between the external world and interiority, submission and emancipation, tradition and modernity.

The evening opens with excerpts from the ballet Libre, choreographed by Julien Lestel, featuring students from the Ecole Nationale de Danse de Marseille.
