Everyone is celebrating the young woman's coming of age. Later that evening, Clara goes to join her friends to continue the party. On the way, the demons that have troubled her throughout her childhood return to haunt her. It is at this moment that the Nutcracker appears to help Clara defeat these monsters from the past.
