Overview
With cello and percussion, songs in Arabic and Hebrew, dances, a classical yet original Bérénice...This almost-solo female plural performance, which highlights this woman's fight for her passion, her rights, and those of her people, largely reuses Racine's text. Allusion is made to the passion of this Queen "of Judea and Palestine". We have added extracts from the "Song of Songs", as well as a dialogue between Bérénice and a Roman senator, in which the tension between the peace words of this designated Princess and the positions of the representatives of the Roman Empire is discussed. Our aim is to draw parallels with current Middle Eastern situations. The show is interspersed with music – cello and percussion – songs in Arabic and Hebrew, and oriental dances. We offer a Bérénice that is both classical and original… For all audiences aged 15 and over
